This is a finely handcarved and finished
TRADITIONAL SAMOAN PATE or LALI SLIT DRUM. It has a large carved cavity
inside and therefore sounds wonderful when played. It is made from the local
Ironwood (Hardwood) tree called IFILELE and is therefore heavy in weight.
It gets its dark color from being put in the black mangrove mud for a couple
of days before the final design is carved onto it. Included are two
handcarved straight playing sticks
OR one professional handcarved tapered playing stick.
The first Pate measures 16" long but also comes in some larger sizes.
The pates in the 4th, etc. photo are 20" long.
Price: The 16" pate is $69.00 plus shipping. The 19"-20"
pates are $99.00 plus shipping.
