Drum No. 9 - Finely
handcarved and finished 31-1/2" TRADITIONAL SAMOAN PATE or SLIT
DRUM. This drum and stick were made by one of the best Pate makers in Samoa.
It has a large carved cavity inside and therefore SOUNDS WONDERFUL when playedl!!
It is made from the local Ironwood (Hardwood) tree called IFILELE and is heavy
in weight. It has VERY FINE & skillfully done hand-carved AUTHENTCAL TRADITIONAL
designs on both sides. The
dark color comes from being placed in mangrove mud for a few days before carving
the designs on it. Includes TWO
handcarved playing stick as seen in the photo.
It measures 31-1/2"

has the natural wood patina having been polished with a Pig's Tusk.
