PALE
HEADDRESS
Handcrafted from pandanus plant leaves, first soaked in sea water and
then skillfully made into small flower shapes and attached to a stiff pandanus
band to make this traditional dancer's headdress. The 'Pale' is part of the
old times traditional Samoan costume worn for the Tausala dance and Taupou's
dance.

TUIGA
HEADDRESS
The TUIGA HEADDRESS is unique to the Country of Samoa. Traditionally
worn by both men and ladies on special cultural occasions. It is also part
of the special costume of the Taupou who is a girl that, on important occasions,
prepares the Kava drink in the Samoan culture. As well, it is part of the
old times traditional Samoan costume when worn for the Taualuga dance and
Taupou's dance as well as men's dances during entertainment. It is worn by
both men and ladies during official ceremonies and dances.

COCONUT SHELL TUIGA
The Coconut Shell Tuiga are handcarved from a large mature coconut shell with
insets of the lighter immature coconut shell at the front. The front piece
is approx. 6-1/2" high. Around the sides are 12 - 2" coconut rings attached
to a 1" band which was handwoven from the foa tree fiber. The decoration on
the side is woven foa bark fiber with shells to form a flower. There is a
pua nut or bead which is used to attach the back together which can be moved
to provide for a larger or smaller head sizes.

COCONUT SHELL TUIGA
WITH LARGE PEARL (TIFA) SHELL
This TUIGA was handcarved from a large mature coconut shell with a Large 5"
local PEARL SHELL at the front. There are also local small black shells along
the whole bottom of the pearl shell that are hard to see in the photos. The
front piece measures 5" high Around the sides are 12 - 2" coconut rings attached
to a 1" band which was handwoven from the fao tree bark fiber. The decoration
on the side is also handwoven laufala plant fiber to form a flower. There
is a bead which is used to attach the back together and which can be moved
to provide for a larger or smaller head size. Price: $70.00 each
