Bowl No. 4 - This
Graceful 27"-Long Handcarved Kava Bowl was handcarved from one
piece of dense hardwood (IFILELE tree wood) so is heavy. Large pieces of this
Ifilele wood are becoming increasingly hard to get as the trees are very slow
growing. This tanoa has very detailed designs carved on the front and back
sides. It has the traditional, natural luster patina and was polished with
a pig's tooth. Has a lovely grain to the wood on the inside of the bowl.

No. 5 - This graceful Traditional,
Deep-Sided, 16" Multi-legged Kava Tanoa/Bowl has 12 legs and was handcarved
from one piece of very dense hardwood (IFILELE tree wood) so is quite heavy.
Large pieces of this quality of wood are becoming increasingly hard to get as
the trees are very slow growing. It has the traditional straight sides and deep
bowl. This type of many-legged kava tanoa is unique to the Country of Samoa
and is much harder and more time-consuming to produce. There are UNIQUE and
skillfully carved contoured design patterns on the top rim and around the sides.
It has a lovely grain to the wood on the inside of the bowl which was polished
with a pig's tooth. This bowl was carved by one of the 2 most senior carvers
in Samoa. This 12-leg Bowl measures 16" wide x 6" high.

SEA TURTLE CENTERPIECE - This is a very LARGE and UNIQUE
Handcarved Hardwood Kava Tanoa/Bowl in the shape of a SEA TURTLE. It
was handcarved from one piece of very dense local hardwood (IFILELE tree wood)
so is VERY heavy in weight. Large pieces of this Ifilele wood are becoming increasingly
hard to get as the trees are very slow growing. The carved designs are very
detailed. It has the traditional, dark luster patina from burying it in mangrove
mud and then polishing it with a pig's tooth. Has a lovely grain to the wood
on the inside of the bowl. This huge turtle bowl measures 30-1/2 x 15-1/2"
x 6" and weighs 16-1/2 pounds. AN OPPORTUNITY TO OWN A MASTERPIECE
