Bowl No. 7 - This
finely carved 17" Wide Handcarved Kava Bowl with a deep 8" bowl
was handcarved from one piece of dense hardwood (IFILELE tree wood) so
is heavy. Large pieces of this Ifilele wood are becoming increasingly hard
to get as the trees are very slow growing. This tanoa was made by the best
senior design carver in Samoa and has very detailed designs carved around
the top rim and sides. It has the traditional, dark luster patina from
burying it in mud for a considerable time before the design is carved and
then polishing it with a pig's tooth. Has a lovely grain to the wood on the
inside of the bowl.
It measures 17" wide and 6-1/2" high.

18"x11" TURTLE BOWL WITH LID
- This UNIQUE Turtle Bowl with Lid was handcarved from one piece of very dense
local hardwood (IFILELE tree wood) so is VERY heavy in weight. The carved designs
very detailed. It has the traditional, dark luster patina from burying it in
mud for a considerable time before the design is carved and then polishing it
with a pig's tooth and has a lovely grain to the wood on the inside of the top
and bottom. It measures 18" wide and 11" wide.

No. 9 - This Graceful 20"
by 14" Handcarved Bent-Leg OVAL Kava Bowl was handcarved from one piece
of dense hardwood (IFILELE tree wood) so is heavy. Large pieces of this Ifilele
wood are becoming increasingly hard to get as the trees are very slow growing.
This tanoa has very detailed designs carved around complete sides and the top
rim. The Bent-Legs are a more difficult design to handcarve. It has the traditional,
natural luster patina and was polished with a pig's tooth to show its lovely
wood grain on the inside of the bowl. It measures 20" Long and 14"
Wide.
