Platter No. 1 -
This Graceful 20"x13" PLATTER was handcarved from one piece
of very dense local hardwood (IFILELE tree wood) so is VERY heavy in weight.
Large pieces of this Ifilele wood are becoming increasingly hard to get as
the trees are very slow growing.
It has the traditional, dark luster patina from burying it in mud for a considerable
time before the design is carved and then polishing it with a pig's tooth.
It has very detailed carved designs and a lovely grain to the wood on the
inside of the platter's bowl areas. This Platter measures 20" long and
13" wide.

No. 2 - This 20" Wide
Handcarved Platter with 4 handles was crafted from one piece of dense hardwood
(IFILELE tree wood) so is heavy. The 4 handles are wrapped with handbraided
sinnet which is made from twisted local coconut fiber. It has the traditional,
dark luster patina from burying it in mud for a considerable time before the
design is carved and then polishing it with a pig's tooth. It has very detailed
carved designs around the edge and a lovely grain to the wood on the center
of the platter. This Platter measures 20" wide.

SEA TURTLE CENTERPIECE PLATTER - This is a very LARGE and UNIQUE
Handcarved Hardwood Platter in the shape of a SEA TURTLE. It was handcarved
from one piece of very dense local hardwood (IFILELE tree wood) so is VERY heavy
in weight. Large pieces of this Ifilele wood are becoming increasingly hard
to get as the trees are very slow growing. The carved designs are very detailed.
It has the traditional, dark luster patina from burying it in mangrove mud and
then polishing it with a pig's tooth. Has a lovely grain to the wood on the
inside of each bowl area. This huge turtle bowl measures
30-1/2 x 15-1/2" x 6" and weighs 16-1/2 pounds.
