This club is a finely carved/finished/detailed
Traditional Samoan Toothed War Club called an LAPALAPA (in the Samoan
language) or Coconut Stock Club. It was made from the local ironwood tree
(Ifilele) and is therefore very heavy in weight. It has very fine & skillfully
done handcarved authentic traditional designs on both sides. The dark color
comes from being placed in mangrove mud for a few days before carving the
designs on it. There is a sennet wrap near the top, which is handmade 3-strand
braided coconut fiber.
