This club is a Rare and VERY finely
carved/finished/detailed TRADITIONAL SAMOAN DANCE Club called a NIFO OTI
(in the Samoan language) or Teeth of Death. Nowadays, this club is
used in the Tausala Samoa and Taupou Samoa dances for the official entertainment
to consolidate the pride in the Samoan culture. It was made from the local
ironwood tree (IFILELE tree) and is therefore heavy in weight. It has VERY
FINE & skillfully done hand-carved AUTHENTICAL TRADITIONAL designs on both
sides. The dark color comes from being placed in mangrove mud for a few days
before carving the designs on it. The handle has a sennet wrap, which is handmade
3-strand braided coconut fiber.
