THROWING WAR CLUBS IN STOCK
The clubs below are finely carved/finished/detailed
Traditional Samoan Throwing War Clubs called an OLOMOE (in the
Samoan language).This type of club was hurled by a warrior with great precision
in times of war. They are made from the local ironwood tree (Ifilele)
and are therefore very heavy in weight. They have very fine & skillfully done
handcarved authentic traditional designs around the handles. The dark color
comes from being placed in mangrove mud for a few days before carving the
designs on them. On some of these clubs there is a sennet wrap near the top,
which is handmade 3-strand braided coconut fiber.
