This club is a finely carved/finished/detailed
Traditional Samoan Throwing War Club called an OLOMOE
(in the Samoan language).This type of club was hurled by a warrior with great
precision in times of war. It was made from the local ironwood tree (Ifilele)
and is therefore very heavy in weight. It has very fine & skillfully done
handcarved authentic traditional designs around the handle. The dark color
comes from being placed in mangrove mud for a few days before carving the
designs on it. There is a sennet wrap near the top, which is handmade 3-strand
braided coconut fiber. This club
measures 19" long but these can vary slightly in length.
