This club is a finely carved/finished/detailed
Traditional Samoan Toothed War Club called an TALAVALU (in the Samoan
language) or 8-SPIKE TALAVALU. It was made from the local ironwood
tree (IFILELE) and is therefore heavy in weight. It has very fine & skillfully
done handcarved authentic traditional designs on both sides. The dark color
comes from being placed in mangrove mud for a few days before carving the
designs on it. There is a sennet wrap near the end of the handle, which is
handmade 3-strand braided coconut fiber. This club is 36" long.
