'ULA FALA
'ULA - TRADITIONAL SAMOAN
'ULA NECKLACES - Handcrafted from local tree nuts and seeds. These 'ULA
are an important of the complete costume inthe Samoan culture from olden times
and especially important for the Matai (family chief), the talking chief or
a high chief to show the honor and respect of the Samoan culture. Always worn
during special occasions. Except for the 'Ula Fala, these seeds are 'seasonal',
so email as to what is available.
The 'ULA FALA is made from the fruit pod of the Pandanus tree, dried
and painted red. Measures about 45" around.
The 'ULA TIFA is the BLACK seed of the Tifa Tree. Comes in Large
and Small size nut.
The 'ULA PUA is the dark BROWN seed of the Pua Tree.

ULA
NIFO - This 'toothed' necklace is unique to Samoa and was made from split Sperm
Whale's tooth in olden times. It is an important part of the Traditional Samoan
Dance Outfit for both men and ladies and is worn for both formal and informal
Dance performances. It is handmade by local craftspeople from bone, mature or
immature coconut shell and white plastic with local Pua Nut (when in season)
or wood beads between the 'teeth'.
ULA
IPU POPO - This popular coconut shell necklace with handpainted flowers
is worn in Samoa by both men and ladies. It is made of 25 discs which are 1-5/8"
across and each necklace is 42" around. They are made in many different
colors to match shirt and puletasi colors. Earrings can also be order to go
with them.
